Chaos With Receipts

Documented chaos. Receipts attached.

We cover lawsuits, scams, and corporate disasters - and we link the filings, dockets, and official records every time. No anonymous tipsters. No vibes. Just the paperwork.

The Story

Most scandal coverage is downstream of rumour. A tweet, a vibe, a “sources say” - and by the time anyone checks, the original claim has mutated three times.

Rich Powell started Chaos With Receipts in 2026 because the actual paperwork - court filings, SEC complaints, regulatory orders, FOIA returns, bankruptcy dockets - usually tells a sharper story than the takes.

The Mission

Primary sources, every time. If a claim lives on this site, you can click through to the document it came from.

  • Show the receipt. Every story links to the official record it is built on.
  • Skip the rumour. If we cannot cite it, we do not run it.

How we verify a story

Every story goes through this editorial process before publishing.

1

Primary source first

Every story starts with the document - court filing, SEC complaint, regulatory order, FOIA return, bankruptcy docket. If there is no paper trail, there is no story.

2

Two sources minimum

Every factual claim is corroborated against at least two independent records before publishing. We do not run anonymous tips or "people familiar with the matter".

3

Editorial review

Drafts are reviewed for accuracy, context, and tone. We do not editorialise the verdict - the receipts speak for themselves.

4

Public corrections

When we get something wrong, we say so on the affected page, with a date and a note explaining what changed. No silent edits.

Why We're Different

Linked to the filings

Every claim cites a primary document. Click the source, read the original.

No anonymous sources

If we cannot name the record, we do not run the story.

AI-drafted, human-edited

Drafts are AI-assisted from sourced documents. Every story is reviewed and verified by an editor before it publishes. We are transparent about how the work gets made.

Transparent corrections

Errors are corrected publicly on the affected page, with a dated note explaining what changed.

Corrections policy

We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we correct the affected story on the page itself, with a dated note explaining what changed. We do not silently edit published stories.

If you have spotted an error - a misquoted filing, a wrong date, a misread document - email [email protected] with the URL and the specific claim you are flagging. We aim to respond within two working days.

For takedown requests, defamation claims, or legal notices, use the same address and include identifying information about the document or claim in question.
